Youth Program

Valentines Day card making, Pink Shirt Day, and more… Youth Program February Highlights!

In February, our Youth Program spearheaded an array of engaging activities within AIWCC’s after-school program. From crafting Valentine’s Day cards for parents to donning pink shirts in solidarity against bullying, our participants were immersed in a diverse range of experiences designed to foster creativity, compassion, and community spirit.

Youth Program delivers art, reading and academic help to students

AIWCC’s youth program delivers all kinds of after school activities for youth to participate and enjoy. Youth here can be seen enjoying drawings of their own choosing, reading sessions, and course delivery to help students with homework.

Youth Program delivers artistic workshop to Sifton School

On Nov 23, our Youth Program returned to Sifton school for our after-school program to help deliver various activities and academic guidance to students. On this day, our youth caseworkers asked students to draw their favourite character or person they look up too!

Women Empowerment Program deliver sewing lessons to participants!

Our Women Empowerment Program hosted a safety sewing habits session. participants were able to learn how to sew as well as interact with different machines used to sew.

Racial Stereotypes

Our Women Empowerment program and Anti-Racism program partnered up to deliver a session focused on racial stereotypes. AIWCC hosted these sessions multiple times as it is an essential topic for all newcomers to learn when beginning their life in Canada.

Arts and Crafts – Build a Wreath Workshop

On Nov 22 our Women Empowerment program hosted an arts and crafts workshop where participants created their very own wreaths before the holiday season. Each participant had various supplies to choose from to help create their master piece!

Remedy Rx visits the Women Empowerment Program

On Dec. 11, the Women Empowerment Program invited Remedy Rx to host an informative session about the benefits of flu shots and vitamins.

Seniors take a stroll down Greenland Garden Centre

Our Seniors Program at AIWCC went on a fun trip to Greenland Garden Centre to learn about gardening. We explored lots of different plants and had great talks while enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was a cool adventure that helped us learn more about our planet!

Alberta Health Nurses provide foot-care services to our Seniors!

Our Seniors Program hosted a foot-care session for our seniors that was delivered by Alberta Healthcare Nurses. At this session, Seniors were able to recieve cleaning and medical advice on how to improve foot health.

Seniors Program dives into Financial Awareness

On January 25, our Seniors Program hosted a Financial Literacy session that focused on building awareness of financial debt with special guest, Linda Mak from Money Mentors. At the session, participants were able to enjoy complimentary food as well as engaging conversations on financial literacy and understanding.

Seniors Program get introduced to Practical Gardening

On January 17th, 2024, our Seniors Program orchestrated a thrilling practical gardening session. Seniors Learn About Yoga and Diet!

On Nov. 8, the Seniors program hosted a yoga and dietitian session that focused on the benefits of yoga, dieting and stories of culture. Seniors Learn Rights and Responsibilities

The Seniors Program organized an educational session led by Zeher Chadi from Tarrabain Law, enlightening seniors about their rights and responsibilities in Canada. Topics that were covered include, immigration enforcement and rights, estate planning, scams and fraud prevention, cultural and relgious freedom, and end-of-life planning/ wills. Remedy RX Visits Our Seniors Program

On October 25, 2023, our Seniors Program partnered up with Remedy Rx Pharmacy to deliver information on the impacts of taking a flu shot. Our seniors were able to enjoy complementary refreshments and have the option of receiving a flu shot if they chose too.

Case Management Program delivers winter wear seminar!

On January 25th, 2024, our Case Management Program hosted an informative session about what articles of clothing is appropriate for winter festivities. Our case management program hosted a Personal Injury Law session that covered various topics with special guest Anmol Metley from ASSIFF Law. These topics included, basics of auto insurance, motor vehicle accidents, and personal injury claims.
