About the Program

The Food Security Program provides reliable and respectful support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. In partnership with the Edmonton Food Bank, Second Harvest and local grocery stores, the program distributes hampers containing familiar staple foods and essential household items.

Hampers may include:

  • Staple foods: Rice, beans, lentils, flour, sugar and cooking oil.
  • Infant supplies: Baby formula, diapers and other necessities when available.
  • Household essentials: Hygiene products, cleaning supplies and other basic items.
  • Dietary consideration: No pork products or alcohol are included.

Items may vary depending on availability and donations.

What participants gain

Reliable access to food and essential supplies can ease immediate financial pressure and support household stability. This allows individuals and families to focus more energy on longer-term goals such as employment, education and secure housing.

Eligibility

  • Low-income individuals and families
  • Anyone experiencing food insecurity or needing support with essential items

Food hamper hours

Monday: 1–3 p.m.
Tuesday to Thursday: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

Hampers are provided in a welcoming environment that respects each person’s dignity. They do not include pork products or alcohol.

 

Impact

187,337 kilograms of food from the Edmonton Food Bank, valued at $1,478,088.93.

10,740 kilograms of food from Second Harvest, valued at $20,502.35.
