Health Literacy
About the Initative
Health literacy means being able to understand health information and use healthcare services. AIWCC includes this support in many of its programs for newcomer women, children, youth, families and seniors.
Participants can learn through workshops, one-on-one support and community activities. They can also get help finding healthcare services and other resources.
Five Areas for Better Health
- Mental health: Learn about emotional well-being and where to find support.
- Nutrition: Learn about healthy eating and making nutritious food choices.
- Long-term health conditions: Learn ways to prevent and manage conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
