Mentorship and Leadership
About the Program
The next generation of leaders is already here. AIWCC’s Youth Mentorship and Leadership Program gives newcomer and immigrant youth a welcoming place to meet peers, discover their strengths and build the confidence to lead.
With guidance from mentors and opportunities to try new things, participants can set goals, find their voice and grow their connections to the community.
Program includes:
- Mentorship: Guidance to explore personal strengths, set goals and make healthy choices.
- Leadership workshops: Activities that help youth take initiative and practise leading others.
- Communication and life skills: Opportunities to build self-awareness, express ideas and work through challenges.
- Peer connections: Group activities that encourage teamwork, friendships and a sense of belonging.
What youth gain:
AIWCC reports that Youth Program participants have become more confident in their abilities, more engaged in school and more connected to their peers and community.
Eligibility:
- Newcomer youth ages 7 to 18.
