About the Program

AIWCC’s Women’s Empowerment Program helps newcomer and immigrant women build practical English, digital and financial skills for everyday life in Canada. Through classroom learning, conversation and hands-on activities, women can strengthen their confidence, connect with others and become more comfortable navigating their communities.

English Language Learning and English Conversation Circles support speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Computer Digital Literacy introduces essential technology, while Financial Literacy helps women understand banking, budgeting, saving and credit. Together, these programs support greater independence and help women access employment, education, services and other opportunities.

Our impact

During 2024–25, AIWCC’s language and digital literacy initiatives supported more than 160 learners. After completing the program, 30% of participants began volunteering, searching for employment or continuing their education.

“Before joining the English classes, I was nervous speaking English outside my home. Even making a phone call or asking a question at an appointment was difficult for me. The classes gave me a safe place to practise without being afraid of making mistakes. Now I feel much more comfortable speaking for myself and communicating in my everyday life.”
